DR. HANK MAKINIClinical Care Coordinator
Dr. Hank Makini is a graduate of St. Louis High School. From 1979 to 1987, Dr. Makini attended Pacific University and Pacific University College of Optometry. While attending college he lived for eight years at the Forest Grove Fire Department's main station serving as a 'live-in' fire fighter. He received his B.S. degree in Visual Science in 1983. He earned his doctorate degree in optometry in 1987. His doctorial thesis was in Sports Vision.
Returning to Hawaii after college, he began his optometric career as an associate on the leeward side of Oahu. In 1990, Dr. Makini began his private practice in the same coast area in the community of Nanakuli where at the same time began a screening program in conjunction with the local elementary schools for Chapter One readers. In 1995, the office was relocated to the great city of Kapolei, Hawaii where he currently lives with his lovely wife, Sharon and their three daughters, Ambrosia, Ariana and Alexis.
Dr. Makini served the community as secretary on the Nanakuli Neighborhood Housing Board from 1992-94. He then served his profession as secretary on the Executive Board of the Hawaii Optometric Association from 1999-2000. In 2000, Dr. Makini had the opportunity to run for the office of Hawaii State Senate. From 2001 to 2003 he served his community serving on the Ewa Neighborhood Board from 2001-03. He currently serves as a member on the Hawaii State Board of Examiners 2007-2011.
Dr. Makini gives all honor and glory to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He and his wife are Associate Pastors at Christian Family Church in Kapolei. He enjoys spending his free quality time with his family, doing home improvement, lifting weights, writing and teaching.
Dr. Makini focuses much attention toward developing patient education and spreading the critical importance of vision care in the lives of infants, elementary students, high school and college students, professionals, computer users, athletes and the elderly. His goal every single day is to make a difference in the quaility of his patients' lives, one important life at a time.
WARREN DOIPatient Accounts Care Coordinator
Warren over sees all accounts receivables. He's been with Eyes Plus since 1999. He has a wealth of knowledge regarding insurances so is able to answer any question you might have regarding your insurance. He has a great sense of style when choosing a frame. There a patients that request Warren to choose the frame style for them. Having graduated from Waianae High School, he is the eldest of three children and currently resides in Aiea. He is an avid collector of figurines including owls and Winnie the Pooh. Shopping, singing karaoke and watching movies are some of his favorite pass times.
NADINE KAEOInventory Care Coordinator
Nadine has been with the practice since 2006. Her great knowledge of computers allows her to be very effective in ordering our patients glasses and contact lenses which in turn allows us to better serve our patients. She is very sweet and patient, she'll make you feel right at home. A graduate of Nanakuli High School Nadine enjoys rebuilding cars, listening to 50's music and spending quality time with her family.
AMBROSIA MAKINIAmbrosia is the doctor's eldest daughter. She is a part-time employee of Eyes Plus,Inc. and a full-time college student. She is a Junior at University of Hawaii and her ambition is to become a Neuro-Ophthalmologist. She is very friendly and loves children. On Sundays, she teaches Sunday School for 8 to 12 year old children. She enjoys hanging with sisters, Ariana and Alexis and just spending time with her family.
